The Sector Deputy Minister Hon. Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui, with a team from the Ministry, inspected the progress of work of the Dansoman Sea Defense Project II, a vital infrastructure initiative designed to safeguard coastal communities from the ravages of sea erosion.
The project spans a 5km stretch and features 22 groynes and 2100m of revetments to protect a coastal stretch exposed to the vagaries of sea erosion.
The Deputy Minister expressed optimism about the project’s potential to uplift the local community. She emphasised the government’s dedication not only to protecting the area from environmental hazards but also to fostering economic growth and social well-being.
The Deputy Minister urged contractors to adhere to timelines and quality standards, ensuring that the project serves as a model for sustainable development in the region.
Beyond its primary purpose as a coastal defense, the project promises to transform the local economy and improve livelihoods. The project will come with ancillary facilities such as cold stores, fish markets, a clinic and modern sanitary facilities to improve livelihoods and boost the local economy of the area.
