PRESIDENT MAHAMA CUTS SOD FOR TEMA INTEGRATED INDUSTRIAL PARK: A SIGNIFICANT STEP IN GHANA’S INDUSTRIAL TRANSFORMATION

H.E. President John Dramani Mahama, together with the Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources, Hon. Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, cut sod for the construction of the Tema Integrated Industrial Park (TIIP), a landmark project marking a significant step in Ghana’s industrial transformation.

In his address, President Mahama stated that industrialisation is now an economic imperative, not just a policy option. He called on all partners to stay committed to building a world-class industrial enclave in line with the long-term vision of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, who laid the foundation for the country’s economic transformation by establishing the Tema industrial area.

Hon Adjei on his part described the TIIP project as more than just construction, but rather a deliberate foundation for a more productive, resilient, and competitive economy. He said, the park will prioritize value addition, stimulate enterprise, and create sustainable jobs for Ghanaians.

He added that the park will provide world-class infrastructure to support manufacturing, processing, logistics, and export-oriented activities. This, he noted, will catalyse significant investment inflows, deepen local value chains, empower small and medium-sized enterprises, and generate thousands of decent jobs.

In alignment with Government’s 24-Hour Economy policy, Hon. Adjei explained that modern industrial parks operate on continuous production cycles, which enhances productivity, optimizes infrastructure use, expands employment across multiple shifts, and strengthens Ghana’s competitiveness in global trade.

He urged the youth in the Tema and its environs to position themselves to take advantage of the opportunities as the initiative holds immense promise in the area of employment, skills development, and entrepreneurship.

The TIIP is being delivered through a collaborative partnership between the Government, TDC Ghana Ltd, the Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation (GIADEC), and ARISE Integrated Industrial Platforms.
