CIVIL SERVICE AWARDS: CHIEF DIRECTOR EMERGES 2ND BEST FOR 2024

The Chief Director of the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources, Rev. Stephen Yaw Osei, has been recognised as the 2nd Best Chief Director of the Civil Service for 2024. This prestigious award was presented to him at the 2024 Awards Ceremony which took place at the Alisa Hotel as part of the 2025 Civil Service Week Celebration.

The Civil Service Week is a multifaceted annual activity that is organised by the Office of the Head of Civil Service to recognise and reward dedicated civil servants, foster public trust, and promote collaboration and innovation within the public sector. The theme for the 2025 Civil Service Week, “Adapting to Automation, Artificial Intelligence, and E-Governance,” underscored the importance of embracing technological advancements in public service delivery.

Rev. Osei’s award signified his contributions to promoting good governance, efficiency, and effectiveness in the Civil Service. His Citation highlighted that he strengthened performance management and promoted accountability, initiated key policies in housing and infrastructure, digitalised the Rent Control Department and developed a flood early warning system for Accra.

His achievement serves not only as a recognition of his individual hard work but also as a testament to the Ministry’s collective efforts to deliver exceptional service to the nation.

In addition to the Chief Director, other officers of the Ministry also received awards for their outstanding contributions. They were Mr. Ebenezer Sam, the Director HRMD, Mr. Enoch Gyasi Yeboah of the Works Directorate: and Miss Hannah Ntiriwaa Nyarko of the General Administration.

This recognition not only honours individual achievements but also sets a high standard for others to strive for, fostering a culture of excellence within the Ministry.
