The Minister of Works, Housing, and Water Resources, Hon. Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, has inaugurated the boards of three housing institutions. They are the Real Estate Agency Council, Public Servants’ Housing Loans Scheme Board, and the State Housing Company Limited (SHCL).
In his address, Hon Adjei emphasized the importance of these institutions in regulating the real estate sector, providing housing finance to public servants, and delivering quality homes to Ghanaians.
He tasked the boards to drive progress and development in the housing sector, prioritizing innovative financing mechanisms, public-private partnerships, and green and climate-resilient housing finance.
Considering the housing deficit exceeding 1.8 million units, the Minister urged the boards to work towards creating a more sustainable and equitable housing market where housing can be affordable. He tasked them to operate with professionalism, transparency and collaborate effectively with stakeholders to ensure the progress of the institutions.
The Board however responded the Hon. Minister’s task in affirmative and pledged their commitment to aligning their work with President John Dramani Mahama’s vision to improve the housing sector. They also assured the Hon. Minister that they will contribute to addressing Ghana’s housing challenges through effective regulation, financing, and delivery of affordable housing solutions.
The Chairpersons are Dr. Elias Danyi Kuusaana for the Real Estate Agency Council, Gerald Baffour Awuah Bonsu for the Public Servant Housing Loan Scheme Board, and Ralph Roland for the State Housing Company Limited.
