HON KEN ADJEI MEETS NETHERLANDS AMBASSADOR ON GHANA’S WATER AND INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS

The Minister for Works, Housing, and Water Resources, Hon. Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, has received a pledge of support from the Netherlands Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Jeroen Verheul, for water supply systems and sustainable nature-based sea defense projects. The Ambassador and his delegation visited the minister’s office for a meeting to explore financing options from Invest International, a Dutch state-owned financing organization.

The meeting was a follow-up to initial engagements started by the minister to secure funding for sector infrastructure projects. The Ambassador assured the Minister of the Netherlands’ commitment to providing the required grant for water supply systems in Tamale and Damongo, as well as sustainable nature-based solutions to Ghana’s 80 km coastal stretch that remains unprotected from constant devastation from sea erosion.

Hon Adjei expressed gratitude to the ambassador and Invest International for their willingness to invest in high-impact public infrastructure projects in Ghana. The execution of these projects is expected to provide long-term solutions to water access challenges and sea erosion affecting communities in the country.

The Netherlands’ support is expected to benefit Ghanaians living in areas affected by water scarcity and coastal erosion. The projects will focus on providing sustainable and nature-based solutions to address these challenges.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with the Minister and the Ambassador expressing optimism about the potential for collaboration between Ghana and the Netherlands in the works, housing, and water resources sector.

Hon Adjei reiterated the Ministry’s gratitude to the Netherlands Ambassador and Invest International for their support and commitment to Ghana’s development.
